In 2009, District of Columbia Public Schools had approximately 20 teams of students each learning RobotC and building with LEGO Mindstorms NXT and TETRIX kits as part of the DCPS Summer Career Pathways Program which started on June 29, 2009.

During 5 1/2 week program, students utilized the RobotC programming language and video-based curriculum from Carnegie Mellon University. The program brought teams and robots from all over the city together to complete a fun challenge during the week of August 5, 2009. The challenge involved a robot game, website competition and a team presentation.

This was a very exciting opportunity for DCPS and DC FIRST as we continue to strive to bring challenging and accessible robotics programs to the District of Columbia community.
